Splendio

The Splendio Theme

The Splendio theme dazzles with an unconventional yet stylish design that pops out of the box — literally. Despite its fun exterior, Splendio supports many of the WordPress features you know and love. How you use it is limited only by your imagination.

Page Templates

When you first activate Splendio, you’ll see your posts in a standard blog format.

Splendio offers two custom page templates that let you change the layout. There’s a Showcase template and a Single-Column template. Read more about both in more detail below.

Showcase Template (Used on the Home Page of the Splendio Demo Site)

The Showcase template includes a featured slider for Sticky Posts, and a nifty compact listing of your latest posts. If you want the front page of your site to look like the Splendio demo, then this is the template you’ll need to use.

Splendio Showcase

To use the Showcase template, create or edit a page, and assign it to the “Showcase” template from the Page Attributes module. If you’d like use the Showcase template on your front page, use the Customizer to set it as the Static Front Page.

Featured slider

To add posts to the slider (which is part of the Showcase page template), mark some posts as Sticky. (You will need at least two posts marked as Sticky.) If you’d like Featured Images to appear inside the slider with your posts, make sure they are at least 180 pixels wide.

Single Column Template

The Single Column template removes the sidebar from any Page, allowing your content to span the full width. To use this template, create or edit a Page, and then assign it to the “Single Column, no sidebar” template from the Page Attributes module.

Featured Header Images

By default, Splendio comes with a set of its own default header images. You can either use these, or replace them with your own through the Customizer, in Header Image.

With Splendio, you can also display a Featured Header image on a per-page or per-post basis. To give a post or page its own header image, upload a Featured Image (that is at least 990 pixels wide by 400 pixels high) to that post or page.

Widget Areas

Splendio comes with six widget areas – one in the right sidebar, and up to five in the footer. The footer widget areas will activate once you add widgets to it, through the Customizer, under Widgets.

Social Icons

Splendio displays optional icon links to your RSS feed, Twitter, and Facebook accounts in the top right hand corner of the site. You can configure this in Appearance → Theme Options, through the legacy dashboard (to access it, add /wp-admin to the end of your site’s url, e.g.: example.wordpress.com/wp-admin).

Custom Background

Last but not least, you can either enjoy Splendio‘s fun background pattern or set a new Custom Background color or image of your own through the Customizer, under Colors & Backgrounds.
