McKinley is a theme that lets you make an impact. With full-page width image and video posts formats, this theme enables your content to make a statement.
McKinley takes your galleries to the next level, showcasing your images in responsive, full-page width slideshows. You don’t have to do anything to get these working; just create a gallery in a post and set the post format to “Gallery” and this theme does the hard work for you.
You can give your posts that extra flair with full-page width Featured Images, which really make your content stand out.
McKinley takes full advantage of Post Formats. You can display images and videos at full-page width, while quotes and links have distinct color-block styles, which add splashes of color.
Along with extra styling for post formats, each post format links to that format’s archive. This allows your readers to easily browse all posts of the same type – for example, all image posts or all video posts.
This theme is designed to look good on any device. It responds to the device not only with an adaptive menu design, but it also has widgets that flow to fit the design.
The widget area is designed to adapt to fit any design. There is one widget area and you can fill it up with as many widgets as you want. This theme will automatically wrap them into three columns.
Custom Menus, Palettes, Header, and Background
McKinley comes in a great default style, but it’s also built to easily let you create your own look. You can choose from three built-in color palettes, and can also add a Custom Header or Background. The Custom Header is flexible, so you can choose the proportions you want.
The best custom header images are decorative background images. The image will be cropped for small viewports (not scaled down) to fit the available area fixed for height and width. This means header images that work best with this theme are abstract or decorative images.
This theme comes packed with flexible menus. You can have sub items and even a special menu design just for smaller devices. The custom menu is easily set up by going to Appearance → Menus.
