Harmonic makes your content sing. Whether you’re a band looking for a record deal, a travel blogger documenting your trip around the world, or anyone making a home on WordPress.com, this theme lets you express yourself and makes your content shine. Harmonic features a flexible blog layout with one or two columns and a scrolling front-page template for a strong impact on your readers.
Scrolling Front Page
With Harmonic you can build your own front-page layout. Choose from a title screen, showing your latest posts, page content, widgets or even a showcase of using the Portfolio Custom Post Type.
You can control each front-page section using the Customizer, where you can change the background image, add a shaded layer, or even turn off a section.
Portfolio Custom Post Type
Harmonic comes with special styling for Portfolios. Simply start using them and you can easily showcase your photos, or even a discography if you are a musician. This theme also lets you showcase your latest portfolio images on the homepage, as long as you’re using the scrolling front-page template. How cool is that!
The single view for each portfolio item is wider than regular posts, allowing you to really show off your amazing images!
Adding Projects to Your Portfolio
Before you set up your portfolio page template, you will want to start by adding projects to your portfolio. Each project you add to your portfolio will be displayed as a single thumbnail on the grid layout of the main portfolio page template. To get started, go to your site dashboard and click on the Portfolio tab:
This will take you to the portfolio section of your site, you can add a new project under Portfolio → Add New.
For each project, you can add a title, descriptive text, media (single images, galleries, etc.) as you like. Also be sure to set a Featured Image for each project you add to your portfolio. Although it won’t be displayed in single-project view, it’s used as a thumbnail image on the portfolio grid page.
Setting up the Portfolio Page
When you first activate Harmonic on a new site, your homepage will display posts in a traditional blog format. To activate the Portfolio Page Template as shown in the demo, create a new page (which you can give the title of “Home”) and then set it to the Portfolio Page Template shown here:
After you set the Portfolio Page Template, publish your page.
Harmonic supports the Site Logo feature. To brand your site and include your personal logo, navigate to Customize → Site Title and upload a logo image in the space provided.
Harmonic displays links to your social media profiles as icons on the top left of the navigation bar using a Social Links Custom Menu.
