Featured Post Slider

Showcase top posts on your front page by enabling the featured post slider under Appearance → Theme Options. From there you can turn on autostart, change the start delay, and adjust the slide animation speed.

To add a post to the slider, simply mark it as Sticky in the post’s visibility settings.

Post Thumbnails

Linen makes it easy to add photos to your posts. When you add a featured image three different thumbnails will automatically be displayed across your theme: a medium-sized version (300 pixels by 225 pixels) is displayed at the top of your posts, a small version (95 pixels by 95 pixels) is used on your “index” pages, and a large version is shown in the featured post slider (652 pixels by 300 pixels) if that post is marked as Sticky.

Theme Options: Logo, Layout, and Subscribe Links

Linen’s Theme Options menu give you the flexibility to make all kind of design changes to your theme. With the click of a button you can easily: remove the footer or sidebar across your entire site, add a custom logo image, or add handcrafted icons to your sidebar (RSS, Flickr, Twitter, and Facebook).

Custom Page Templates

Linen includes two different page templates to further customize your site. The full-width page template allows you more space by hiding the sidebar, and the left-sidebar layout lets you quickly switch up the styling of a specific page.

Quick Specs (all measurements in pixels):

  1. The main column width is 620 except in the full-width layout where it’s 920.
  2. Featured images sizes are 652 by 300 for large image in featured slider, 300 by 225 for normal post thumbnail, and 95 by 95 for small thumbnails in the index view.

Using the featured slider

The featured slider is super simple to use once you get the hang of it. Below are some guidelines to help you get the slider setup and looking good.

  • To add a post to the featured slider, you'll want to mark the post as Sticky.
  • The description on the button in the sidebar of the slider (underneath the title) is pulled from the post content.
  • Next, be sure to add a "read more" tag to your post so your entire post doesn't show up in the feature box.
  • Finally, set a featured image to your post.
  • Once your posts are properly formatted feel free set a custom autostart and animation speed.

Adding a custom logo

Navigate to Appearance → Theme Options → Custom Logo Image and upload your logo. You also have the option to disable the tagline.

Changing your fonts

Navigate to Appearance → Theme Options → Typography and choose an Accent font and a Body font.

To disable the built-in custom fonts navigate to Appearance → Theme Options → Typography and set your Accent font to Helvetica and your Body font to Georgia. Once the fonts have been disabled follow the normal instructions for using Typekit with WordPress.com.
