Feature the content that matters the most to you and your readers with Hero’s dark, minimal design, and Front Page template.

Front Page Template

Hero’s Front Page template is designed to be the home page of your site, sending readers to the information you think is most important.

To get started, create a new page and assign it the Front Page template under Page Attributes. Then set that page to be your Static Front Page.

Featured Content Slider: Use the ‘Featured Content’ options under Settings → Reading to select a tag for your featured content slider. Use this tag on posts with a featured image, and they’ll show up in the slider.

Tagline Area: Under ‘Home Promos’ in the Customizer, set a Tagline and select a page from the dropdown list for the Tagline link.

Promotional Callouts: Under ‘Home Promos’ in the Customizer, choose a tag name from the dropdowns for the promo areas. Tag posts with these tags to have them show up in the three callout areas.

Full-Width Page Template

If you would like to remove the sidebar from a page for a cleaner, full-width look, assign your page the Full Width template under Page Attributes.

Widgets

Hero includes a primary sidebar widget area and four footer widget areas that can be customized in Appearance → Widgets.

Custom Menu

Set up a custom navigation menu that will appear in the header’s custom menu area by going to Appearance → Menus.

Custom Header and Background

Hero features a fully flexible Custom Header that can be set under  Appearance → Header. The background can also be customized under Appearance → Background.

Quick Specs (all measurements in pixels)

1. The main column width is 620 except in the full-width layout where it’s 940
2. The homepage featured post slider has the suggested image dimensions of 960 wide and 350 tall
3. The homepage callout areas have a suggested image size of 295 wide and 155 tall
4. The sidebar widget area is 278 wide
5. Each footer widget area is 170 wide
